IHC seeks NAB’s comments in plea against arrest of PTI founder, Bushra Bibi

ISLAMABAD, Aug 01 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday sought comments from National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a plea challenging arrest of PTI founder and Bushra Bibi in new toshakhana case.
The court instructed the bureau to submit the response by August 8. Addressing petitioner’s lawyer Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb remarked that the petitioner should also prove their good intention.
The court said that NAB had also sought jewelry set previously from the petitioners but it was not provided. The accused still didn’t preset the gifts, it noted.
A two-judge bench comprising Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the petition.
Petitioners’ lawyer Intizar Panjutha said that the arrest of the two accused was against the law. The remand order after the
arrests was on record, he said.
The lawyer said that his clients have been given sentence in toshakhana case but a new case has been prepared. He said that all 108 gifts have been mentioned in charge sheet of the first case.
The court noted that the previous case was to the extent of graft jewelry only, adding that the petitioners should also prove their good intentions. Is it correct that the accused were not joining the investigation, Justice Aurangzeb asked.
The court served notices to NAB and adjourned the case.
